Cultural and artistic association “KOLO” Bujanovac

The first organized society in the field of culture in Bujanovac appeared in 1923. In 1932, the Sokolski dom was built in Bujanovac, and then girls joined the society and a section for learning folk and revolving games was formed. That is why 1932 is taken as the year of the formation of the first cultural and artistic society in Bujanovac. 10/10/1972 year, the youth of Bujanovac changes the name of the cultural and artistic society and begins work under the name “CIRCUIT”, which successfully exists and works continuously to this day. Cultural and artistic association “KOLO” currently has 250 members, divided into 5 categories, from the youngest to the oldest. For 82 years of work, about 3000 solo concerts and performances have been held at various festivals and folklore festivals both in the country and abroad. The society’s repertoire currently includes about twenty choreographies, which completely cover the territory of the Republic of Serbia and the territory of the former Yugoslavia. KUD “KOLO” is the initiator and main organizer of the International Folklore Festival “KOLO Bujanovac” which is held on the Town Square in Bujanovac on the occasion of the city’s celebration of St. Peter’s Day, which is attended by 5-6 societies from Serbia and abroad. see our closest companies from Macedonia, Bulgaria and Greece. Depending on the requirements and programs of the festival organizers and the festivals they participate in, our members can show the audience sets of games of 8-10 minutes or hold an all-night concert lasting 90 minutes with the participation of soloists, singing groups and instrumentalists from the orchestra.
